Moving into your first home or apartment is an exciting experience. You’re finally on your own, paying rent, and taking care of yourself. Now all that’s left is finding excellent furniture and home décor to fill your new space.
Interior décor should be given top priority. It reflects your personality, livens up your home, and may even impress your guests. But, what should you look for when rummaging through furniture stores and antique shops? Here are five items you must consider when looking for home décor in Jacksonville, FL.
Mirrors
While many of us prefer to keep the mirrors to a minimum (we don’t want to see ourselves at every corner), a cute and creative mirror can really enrich a space. Look for a mirror that fits your personality, as well as the overall theme of your home. Find something that makes gazing at your reflection something to look forward to.
Pillows
Finding matching pillows is like waking up Christmas morning to see a five foot pile of shiny gifts; it is glorious. While pillows used to be more of a practical item, through the years they have become a decorative staple. Look for pillows of different size, shapes, and patterns that still fit in with the color scheme of your home. Be creative, and find the styles that fit your personality!
Art
Pictures are great, but having unique pieces of art on the wall will do a wonderful job of brightening up your home even more! Art doesn’t have to be expensive either; you can find original pieces of artwork for an affordable price in many places if you just do a little research! Look for pieces of art that say something about you as a person (your likes, interests, and passions) while still aligning with the overall aesthetic of your space.
Picture Frames
Nothing exudes personality like pictures on the wall of a home. Some people keep it minimalist with only a few pictures here and there, while others have walls that look like the inside of Vogue! It’s not just the pictures themselves that add a creative flare to your home, it’s the frames that surround them. Look for frames that fit the theme of your photos, whether they be rustic, modern, vintage, colorful, abstract, or any other style!
Candles
Many people don’t think of candles as an aspect of home décor. However, having a few sweet smelling candles around the house can give your guests an impression of cleanliness, positivity, and peacefulness. Look for candles with a subtle smell, so as not to overpower the entire space. If you’re a sucker for pumpkin pie and don’t feel like touching the oven, there’s a candle for that, my friend.
